There has been talk in the last few weeks that famed Broadway actress and 5 time Tony winner, Audra McDonald might be gearing up to play the all powerful Aretha Franklin in an upcoming biopic. Although we think that Fantasia or Jennifer Hudson would be a better choice, we are not opposed to the idea of Audra taking on the role simply because we love her so much. (But seriously, lets have Audra sit this one out)
Broadway.com recently caught up with the Queen of Broadway and asked her about the speculation. Her response:
“It would be an honor to play her,” McDonald told us. “Other than that we leave it to fate. Who knows.”
Is this her way of not releasing any information? She never said it wasn’t true. Did she already audition? Does she even need to audition? So many questions!
