Broadway stars are coming out with some jingle-worthy records to get you through the holidays.

The cast of the Tony winner for Best Musical, Hadestown, is sharing their underground holiday sound with their cast album “If the Fates Allow (A Hadestown Holiday Album).” Led by the ladies who play The Fates in the musical – Jewelle Blackman, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, and Kay Trinidad – the album features other members of the cast including Tony-winner Andre De Shields who lends his jazz and blues notes to the classic “Blue Chrismas.”

There’s no place like Broadway, and BroadwayCon is a place where theatre fans can converge with artists to celebrate shows and the people who bring them to life. Highlights of the event include celebrity panels, performances, talkbacks, workshops, keynotes, concerts as well as a theatrical marketplace – all in the heart of New York’s legendary theatre district.

The convention – theatre’s answer to comic con – was conceived by Melissa Anelli, Stephanie Dornheim and Anthony Rapp, and is produced in partnership with Playbill. Rapp, an original performer in Rent, said of the first-ever event:

“I signed on to help create this event not only because it is the first convention for theatre fans, and not only because it is a singular opportunity to spend quality time with those who love Broadway most, but because this is the convention that this community deserves.”

A look at Broadway behind the scenes and its creative teams will be covered from taking a show from page to stage to adapting stage plays for the screen, from creating a cast recording to costumer tips and tricks. Attendees also will have the opportunity to learn why favorite shows close and how to launch a nonprofit theatre company.

The inaugural convention will feature Hamilton cast members Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom, Jr., Phillipa Soo, René Elise Goldsberry, Daveed Diggs and Arianna DeBose; Billy Porter (Kinky Boots); James Monroe Iglehart (Aladdin); Tamika Lawrence (If/Then); Michael McElroy (Rent); Marisha Wallace (Something Rotten!).

Ultimately, the event – which will feature more than 100 happenings – is designed to give the attendee the most memorable experience possible. Unlike other conventions, autographs and photo opportunities will be free. “We are creating content that will inspire, excite and just plain entertain,” Rapp said. The schedule, times and guests will be finalized the closer to the event.

“Conceived and created by people who live and love theatre,” BroadwayCon will be Jan. 22-24, at the New York Hilton Midtown hotel. The initial ticket block offered Oct. 17 sold out in hours, according to the event website. The third and final batch of tickets is on sale now.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS in their work to help people who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.

We’ll be there! Make sure to get your tickets and check out the panel on diversity moderated by the Editorial Director and Founder of Broadway Black, Andrew Shade. Details below

Solomon and Kuff’s Caribbean-influenced restaurant ushered in the 2016 New Year with a star-studded, glittering soiree! The 5000 square ft. event venue housed “Off the Kuff” one of the hottest social events of the New Year’s Eve holiday. The event was hosted by hosted none other than Ephraim Sykes and Shaun Derik.

Receiving immediate acclaim from event participants were the creators of Off the Kuff, Ephraim Sykes, Sasha Hutchings (Hamilton, Rocky), and Shaun Derik. Other honorable mentions include Stage Manager, Anthony Dunning; Door Operations Manager, Nathan Appleby; and Sound Engineer, Taylor Williams (Hamilton).

Shaun Derik is a nationally recognized Motivational Speaker and Engagement Expert and Ephraim Sykes is a television and film actor with Broadway credits with the casts of Vinyl, Leave It On the Floor, and Hamilton. The two dazzled a 300 attendee audience of the community’s finest; the tastemakers, writers, and poets, those who educated others in the arts. Revelers were treated to memory making performances from the delectable wordsmith Daniel J. Watts (Vinyl, Hamilton, Whorl Inside A Loop), not to mention:

Marcus Paul James (Motown, Rent), Crystal Joy (Motown), Alysha Deslorieux (Hamilton, Beautiful), Anthony Ramos (Hamilton), Derrick Baskin (Difficult People, Memphis), Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) Crystal Thomas, Jasmine Cephas Jones (Hamilton), and an unparalleled midnight wrap-up performance with soiree headliner, Morgan James (Motown, Godspell).

The party goers jammed through the night with music courtesy of the one and only Preston “DJ DUGGZ” Duggers (Motown) and special treat Lucianna Padmore’s 4-piece band.

Sighted mingling about were television, film and Broadway actor, the amazing Leslie Odom Jr. (“Smash”, Hamilton), the very beautiful Teyonah Parris of “Chi-Raq” and “Dear White People”, “Straight Outta Compton’s” Corey Hawkins and other celebrities like Kelly McCreary of “Grey’s Anatomy”, J Bernard Calloway of “Blue Bloods” and Memphis Jonathan Groff (“Glee”, Hamilton) and Hair Vlog Celebrity, Taren Guy. What a magnificent way to bring in the New Year!

Hamilton has me absolutely HELPLESS. However, there is something to cure the fact that you probably won’t get to see Hamilton until 2016 like the rest of us, or if you’re rich enough to buy the resale, maybe next week. 60 minutes correspondent Charlie Rose recently sat down with the genius behind Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the brilliant cast including Renee Elise Goldsberry, Philipa Soo, Chris Jackson, Daveed Diggs and Leslie Odom Jr. for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the hottest musical to hit the Broadway stage.

If you didn’t catch the special last Sunday on CBS, fret not. The whole episode is featured on the website here, including clips that didn’t make it into the actual show, such as a tour of the set and the making of the cast recording. Here are just a few of the highlights:

60 Minutes filmed the entire cast recording, Lin-Manuel was doing re-writes on the spot and Leslie Odom Jr. was the standout amongst his peers singing every song full-out as if he were actual on the Public Theater stage.

Leslie Odom Jr. and other cast members, most of whom are Black or Latino, tell Rose why they’re so passionate about the project. Miranda has “made these dead white guys make sense to a bunch of, you know, Black and brown people,” Odom, Jr. says. “He’s made them make sense in the context of our time, with our music.”

Miranda worked on the show for SIX YEARS, as it originally was supposed to be a mixtape.

It took him a year to completely write “My Shot.” His reasoning: “because every couplet needed to be the best couplet I ever wrote. That’s how seriously I was taking it.”

When it came to deciding that Hamilton would be a Hip Hop musical, Lin-Manuel agreed it was the only genre that could match the actual writings of Alexander Hamilton because “it has more words per measure than any other musical genre. It has rhythm and it has density. And if Hamilton had anything in his writings, it was this density.”

When he was asked to come to the White House to perform something from In The Heights, Lin-Manuel took a risk and sang “Alexander Hamilton” instead for the first time in front of the First Family. While people in the room originally were laughing at the concept of a Hip Hop Hamilton, by the end they were “completely sucked into the story.”

Special productions like this are dangerous and exciting at the same time. Dangerous because now I am willing to give away organs to see this show again. Exciting because Hamilton has done something amazing for Broadway that gets to be shared with the world. The musical has already succeeded expectations financially, it’s offering amazing opportunities for low-income youth to be able to take part, it blends two seemingly different music genres together seamlessly, it makes history fun and engaging, and its cast is richly diverse and talented. I don’t think Hamilton can go anywhere but up. If you haven’t seen or haven’t planned to put “See Hamilton” on your bucket list, I highly recommend you do so.

Also watch the bonus footage below on CBS website for 60 Minutes HERE

Get out your iCal, planner, alarm clocks, and credit cards! The voice of God via Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller, has announced a new block of tickets to the hottest show on Broadway will be available on MONDAY (11/9) at 10am!

Some of us live life on the whim and some of us have every minute calculated. Wherever you fall on this spectrum, you’re in luck– there’s no throwing away your shot at seeing Hamilton when you’re able to book tickets through October 30, 2016. Yes, almost a whole year in advance! Gather up your family, hit your group texts and GroupMe, grab Bae, and collect your coins because we’re going to see Hamilton!

Hamilton is the highly acclaimed, hip hop-infused story about America’s first treasurer, Alexander Hamilton. Based on the biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, Lin-Manuel Miranda has penned what has come to be one of the most influential and talked about shows of our generation. President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, Jay and Queen B, and Auntie Oprah have seen Hamilton. Join the ranks in experiencing this groundbreaking and history making work of art.

Hamilton currently stars Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hamilton, Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler, Andrew Rannells as King George (Jonathan Groff will be back in the role after November 29) , Daveed Diggs as Marquis De Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton, Christopher Jackson as George Washington, Anthony Ramos as John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton, Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison, and Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds.

In case Hamilton breaks the Internet, #NoKimKardashian, there’s no reason to fear, as you can keep trying your luck at the lottery. Stay thirsty, my friends! Who doesn’t love a little #Ham4Ham?
