Broadway history maker Norm Lewis will lead the Bay Street Theater’s concert reading of the new stage adaptation of The Prince of Egypt July 11.
Adapted from the successful 1998 DreamWorks film, the stage adaptation will feature lyrics by Stephen Schwartz lyrist and composer of the Broadway hit Wicked, book by Philip LaZebnik and Music direction is by Dominic Amendum.
The Prince of Egypt tells the biblical story of Moses, an Egyptian prince who learns his true identity and leads the people of Israel from Egypt to the promise land.
Broadway Black actor Norm Lewis has starred in Porgy & Bess, Les Miserables and made history , last year, as the first Black phantom (on Broadway) in Phantom of the Opera.
Broadway actor Aaron Lazar will join Lewis as the two will read the first act of the stage adaptation.
Co-presented with DreamWorks Theatricals the reading is part of the Bay Street Theater’s summer gala, which will honor arts visionaries Timothy Bishop and Joe Pintauro.
