Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical, will be featured on TV One’s award-winning series “Unsung” Wednesday, July 1 at 8 P.M. EST. The creators Anthony Wayne and Kendrell Bowman, and co-producer Sheryl Lee Ralph, will appear on “Unsung Revisited” — a follow-up to the series’ profile of Sylvester, which is originally what inspired Wayne and Bowman to create the musical in 2010.
Touched by Sylvester’s bravery to be open about who he was during a time that wasn’t as accepting, Wayne looked into his music. Together with Bowman, his partner, they worked tirelessly, studying Sylvester’s music and musical influence to bring his life to the stage.
Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical (formerly known as Fabulous, One More Time) began a series of concerts at le poisson rouge in New York City in 2012. It made its Off-Broadway premiere in an acclaimed one-month limited engagement at Theatre at St. Clement’s (423 W. 46th Street) in September 2014. Since then the show has toured all over the country in places like; New York City, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. The musical was nominated for a 2015 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Musical.

With songs like “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)”, “Can’t Stop Dancing” and “You Are My Friend”, this show tells the life story of Sylvester through HIS music and HIS point of view.
