Never Forget: Denzel Washington Inspires At August Wilson Monologue Competition

We consider it an honor and a privilege to watch the work of some of the great black actors live on stage. Denzel Washington is definitely at the top of that list. But it’s one thing to watch him work and its a whole ‘nother thing to have him speak into your spirit with the best advice he could give. This was the case around this time last year at the August Wilson monologue competition 2014. He took the time to inspire the youth that competed as well as the audience that came to witness it. It was a complete surprise but a life changing moment for many, including us. We owe a thank you to Kenny Leon, who at the time was directing him in the revival of A Raisin In The Sun. He made this happen. Denzel intially came out to shake the hands of the winners and those competing and then something completely different happened. We were beyond humbled to witness this moment. Watch it below and you’ll see why.
