Broadway Black Box presents a behind the scenes series entitled Off Book where we explore all the things that interest and contribute to the black theatre community

01.01 We go behind the scenes of the Broadway Legacy 2.0 photoshoot with Broadway Legacy creator & director Christian Dante White.

Broadway Legacy was created and directed by Christian Dante White in collaboration with celebrity photographer Brent Dundore.Together they embark a goal of creating an online historical catalogue of art and information, celebrating African American theatre. This is the 2nd of installment to the collection and will continue as an on going celebration of artists. 54 Sings The Wiz!

Notorious Broadway hangout and supper club 54 Below will be featuring a special night covering the music from the classic film The Wiz. Part of their “54 Sings” series, “54 Sings The Wiz” is directed by After Midnight’s T. Oliver Reid and stars 18 of some of Broadway’s best voices including Adriane Lenox, Ken Page, Vivian Reed, Kecia Lewis, Rema Webb and Gregory Haney 54 Below, which is known as Broadway’s Living Room, plays hosts to numerous events from just about all of Broadways brightest stars and this night proves no different. Aside from some amazing performances you can also get a delicious meal from their menu of chef curated and prepared dishes prior to the show. Tickets are on sale via the 54 Below website but can also be purchased at the door.

Remember the last time we got excite about The Wiz?! Check out the video below of R&B songstress Ashanti as Dorothy in The Wiz at City Center 2009. Accompanying her you’ll see lots of familiar current Broadway faces (Including a 2014 Tony Award winner) and be sure to get your tickets for what will undoubtedly be an amazing night in entertainment!
