]]> Even in the age of virtual programming, creatives are still developing new works and cultivating the arts to engage new audiences. Tony nominees Lilli Cooper (Tootsie) and Denee Benton (The Great Comet) are headlining the new musical, Haley at Therapy, for a virtual performance on February 8. The new work, with book, music, and lyrics by Josh Canfield and musical arrangements by Taylor Peckham, is a musical comedy about a woman’s first visit with her therapist. 

The event is a fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and will be streamed for free on February 8 by visiting HERE. The virtual performance will be available on-demand and after its premiere. Donations are accepted and all money will go towards supporting the efforts of those affected by HIV/AIDS, Covid-19, and other illnesses so people can receive healthy meals, medication, emergency financial assistance, counseling, and more.

]]> If you have time and are in the Cambridge, MA area, take time out to see a rising star at work in an amazing show.

Denee Benton, who toured with the Book of Mormon, takes on the role of Natasha in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, playing at the American Repertory Theater’s Loeb Drama Center.

The musical curates a portion of Leo Tolstoy’s “War and Peace.” The show is described as an electro-pop opera with book, lyrics and music by David Malloy.

With an immersive quality and lots of risk taking, people all over the U.S. are talking about this show. The show debuted December 6th to rave reviews and has been collecting accolades ever since.

Benton, who has a long list of credits to her name, is already receiving a lot of buzz for her performance. The young actress is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon and was on Moron’s National and West End tour.

The show runs through Jan. 3rd 2016.
